Dear Lab/Shul Community,

Ten years ago, a group of excited pioneers set off on a journey to reimagine Jewish spiritual community for the 21st century, and thanks to the hands and hearts of so many committed co-creators, the Lab/Shul community was born.

So many of you were there from the beginning and even more of you have joined us along the way. Together we’ve been through celebrations and holidays, transitions and tough times, and we are thrilled to celebrate this wonderful milestone with you at our upcoming 10th Anniversary Gala on June 12, 2023 at the Museum of Jewish Heritage/A Living Memorial to the Holocaust.

At the Gala we will be recognizing a “Milestone Minyan” — ten categories of community members who have helped shape the very essence of Lab/Shul.

Sunhillow “Sunny” Newman (10th Birthday) & Solomon Hays Boas: First & Newest Lab/Shul Babies
Aaron Friedman: “Raising the Bar” B Mitzvah Educator
Lori Roth Gale: Jodi Cohen & L. Michael Graver (z’l) Legacy Award Recipient
Marques Hollie: Artist & Ritualist
Boris Khmelnitskiy: Social Justice Changemaker
Rhona Silverbush, Peter Vogelsang & Jack Nierenberg: Founding Co-Creators
Liz Hirsch & Karen Pratt: Founding Board Members
Raising the Bar Cohort 2012 – 2013: 10 Year B Mitzvah Anniversary
Shawn Shafner: Storahtelling Maven & Lab/Jr. Educator
The Lab/Shul Staff: Past and Present

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Hudson River and Statue of Liberty, the evening promises to be spectacular, filled with artistic ritual, enchanting music, sumptuous cuisine, and inspiring conversations. We hope you will join us to celebrate all of our collective accomplishments and toast to Lab/Shul’s next chapter.
