Is there a blessing for the sacred civic duty of voting?

We checked earlier this week, ahead of NY’s early voting, and turns out there are many beautiful prayers, most of them quite long.

So we created a new short blessing for 2020 – God-optional, concise, and hopefully helpful to each of us as we enter the holy of holies and voice our choice. Check out our new voter’s blessing HERE – share it with others. Rabbi Amichai used it this morning when exiting the voting booth and shared it with us (check out his video below). We encourage you to do the same and post it to raise the sacred and reduce the stress.

First time voter? Mazeltov! You can also add the Shehecheyanu – blessing the here and now.

Speaking of blessings – check out Rabbi Amichai’s newest Weekly Word Vid on Beracha/Baraka – Blessing (video below) – asking us to consider what it means to be, ourselves, blessings. (And what Abraham Lincoln has to do with it.)

Join us tonight for SHABasics, led by Rabbi Amichai, (if you are helping getting out the vote – join us to get a special blessing from the rabbi!) and tomorrow for a very special Saturday SoulSpa with Storahtelling from Naomi Less and Sara Stock Mayo on speaking truth to power. We are here for you all through next week, with soul fuel stations to keep our hearts and hopes full.

Aleinu. It is on us to bring blessings, to Get Out the Vote, and to vote so that all families of this earth may be blessed.

Shabbat Shalom (and happy Halloween!)
