Dear Lab/Shul Community,

We all have a Lab/Shul story. That moment when you recognize and appreciate that you belong to something special, something that connects with you, something that reminds you that you are connected to a tradition and a legacy that gives greater meaning to your life.

My moment was four years ago when I celebrated my B Mitzvah alongside my son, Ben.

I had a culturally Jewish but religiously secular childhood and thus becoming a “bar mitzvah” was never on the menu. Stepping into the moment with knowledge from Rabbi Amichai’s Alef/Bet classes and private study was only possible because Lab/Shul made the experience approachable and engaging.

I never thought I would be able to celebrate my own B Mitzvah. Being able to share the experience with my son brought it to new heights of meaning and importance.

For me, Lab/Shul is about reimagining the Jewish experience. It has helped me redefine my own relationship with Judaism, and deepened my connections with myself, my family, and my community. I know that this is true for so many of you as well.

I invite you to join me in toasting Lab/Shul’s 10th anniversary at the Spring Gala on June 12th at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. Together we’ll share our Lab/Shul stories, celebrate ten phenomenal years, and raise a glass in recognition of the “Milestone Minyan” of community members who have helped shape Lab/Shul’s very essence.

Jon SilvanWe’re excited to see you there.
