Dear Lab/Shul,

Raise your hand if over the past few weeks you've been like, "I don't get it. Why does Lab/Shul even do a Gala? Isn't that, like, the exact type of traditional thing Lab/Shul set out to NOT do when it was founded?"

Yeah, we thought there might be a bunch of you out there wondering about it. We have been too, in this moment of self-reflection as we mark our B Mitzvah year.

For 13 years, Lab/Shul has been a laboratory for reimagining Jewish life. We were founded to disrupt inherited assumptions, challenge outdated norms, and ask difficult questions about what Jewish community can become.

So in preparation for this year's Gala, we are challenging ourselves to question how Galas are done in the first place.

No longer a scrappy startup. Not quite an establishment either. We're somewhere in between. And maybe that's exactly where the most important questions about leadership, power, access, tradition, and belonging live. This kind of questioning is especially important at this moment of significant uncertainty and shift in the Jewish world and beyond.

Want to hear more about what we're making of our B Mitzvah moment?

**Join us THIS THURSDAY for a Gala unlike any other Galas**

Through story, ritual, live music, humor, and collective imagination, together we'll wrestle with what it means to mature without losing the curiosity, courage, and creativity that brought us here in the first place.

Tickets are available at a wide range of everybody-friendly prices. Let me know how we can make it work for you to join us for this historical moment in our organizational life.

With love and gratitude,
