Join the Lab/Shul team on our annual Elul journey into the new year, offering 40 daily Shiviti inspirations – visual and textual invitations to help us release, refocus and recharge.

Aug. 28th – Oct. 5th, 2022

Our theme this year is SHIVITI, a Hebrew concept that is simultaneously our oldest contemplative meditation technique, a visual iconography of the sacred, and an expression of ‘concrete poetry’–a unique genre in which words meet imagery as a way to inspire our sensory awareness. Shiviti is an invitation to better balance, towards us setting intention and paying attention to what matters most.

Let’s reimagine Shiviti. As we explore this concept and what it means to be in the presence of the infinite, we invite you to co-create this series of offerings with us.

You can make a visual art piece, a meme, a graphic design, or even a 10-15 second video/sound interpretation.

What might it mean to be in the presence of presence? To place the infinite before you?

How might you artistically interpret this ancient meditative concept? How will you reclaim this tradition and create your own altar of awakening?

We can’t wait to see your version of Shiviti

Artistic entries will be part of our online PrePent series, and also presented at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center as an ongoing gallery during the High Holy Days of Awe. We hope to keep creating and curating these visual meditation throughout the year.

PrePent will go live online from the new Moon of Elul, August 28, 2022– until Yom Kippur, October 5, 2022. We will post a daily Shiviti on our social media and on our website.

We can’t do it without you!
