I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits during these hot summer days!
Since our last Sabbath Queen in June, I have been in awe of the ways people show up for each other in this community even when we aren’t in the best spirits. Between the news of our world and the stresses we are all trying to navigate in our daily lives, it is easy to get stuck in a vicious cycle of fear and despair. That’s why it’s been so powerful to see all the beautiful and joyful ways we all lean on each other and this community to get through these days. Many of you have shared with me that you volunteer at our programs because it helps you feel connected to the community and to show up every month. In 5785, it’s no surprise that we had over 125 of our community members commit to volunteer and that to me speaks volumes about what this community means to many of you, like it does for me! This has been a reminder of the power of co-creation – of what can come through our collective commitment to vulnerable, heart-open experiences and ritual.
As a co-created community, Lab/Shul relies on all of us to give — emotionally, spiritually, and financially — in order to get a whole lot more from each other and reap the benefits of our growing and thriving community.

Lab/Shul’s Partnerhood structure is flexible, and we trust that you will come to us with an open heart, ready to invest in the way that’s appropriate for you. We request that those of you who have more will give more so that everyone in our community can participate equally, and so Lab/Shul can continue to have flexible pricing models and approach everything we do with a lens of equity. This is how we move together – and thrive – as an everybody friendly intentional community.
Lab/Shul’s annual operating budget is just over $2M. Being a young-ish organization, we don’t have large endowments, and Partnerhood is a critical source of revenue that needs to become an even more reliable source of income for Lab/Shul as we continue to grow.
