“First heal the heart, then heal the world—
tikkun begins within, then spreads outward.”
-Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg
Join Lab/Shul for our annual PREPENT series, a month-long journey of daily digital insights leading into the new Jewish year.
As we begin this next season of High Holy Days of Awe during these tough times in the world, we are focused on critical questions:
- How can we not let despair dictate our path and instead, open our hearts and minds to the repair we want to be part of?
- What are helpful tools and inspirations that we can cultivate to guide us forward, with hope?
Our annual theme this new year is TIKKUN: Return to Repair.
This year, in line with our theme, we want to know: How can we be part of the solution, not just the problem? Our PrePent focus is “Tools of Tikkun: 30 days of communal wisdom on how we repair our lives.”
How does this work?
Each daily post will feature quotes, original art, and different voices from our community, so that we can honor our hurting hearts, help us enter this new year with more intention and focus, to make more sense of what’s going on, and commit to making a difference in what we hope will be a much better new year.
Prepent daily posts will be shared via Substack on weekdays from the New Moon of Elul, August 25, 2025 until the Eve of Yom Kippur, October 1, 2025. You can subscribe to follow along here.
