This past Saturday we gathered in Brooklyn to unscroll our Torah from the end to the beginning - and began again from our Genesis, eager for a much better year, for all. Led by our ritual team + guest shamans & storytellers, we held the circle of our sacred story and sang about starting again from the beginning, again and again, with pain and with hope. We unscrolled, uplifted, raised each other’s prayers during these difficult days and lit up the Shabbat of Genesis, building bridges towards kinder days and better stories that can serve our people and all people - better. Let there be light.

On the one year Hebrew anniversary of the horrific day we all remember, we will gather to wrap up the High Holy Days that weaves Simchat Torah and Shabbat with a ritual of healing, hope and peace — in partnership with @theneighborhoodbk.
We will cast a circle of sacred storytelling and live music, marking endings and beginnings, face to face.

Recollect - in honor of Sukkot - A season Kaddish Gathering
TOMORROW - October 24th, 2024
12pm EST | ONLINE
As we leave the high holidays and enter into the harvest holiday of Sukkot, the Jewish calendar offers us an opportunity to invite the ancestors who came before us into temporary shelters (Sukkot). These huts serve as memory holders for both biblical ancestors and our own who we love and miss. Sukkot is the first of three ancient pilgrimage holidays when collective community gathers to remember (Yizkor).
We will create our temporary shelter online during our weekly Virtual Kaddish Call. Rabbi @amichailaulavie will join us for this special extended call to offer learning and space to hold our grief.
Lab/Shul’s ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones, share stories, lift memory, and say Kaddish, the ancient memorial prayer, together.

Join us for Unscrolled: We Begin Again to wrap up the High Holy Days with a sacred gathering that weaves Simchat Torah and Shabbat with a ritual of healing, hope and peace.
We will cast a circle of sacred storytelling and live music, marking endings and beginnings, face to face. On this day we’ll gather to gain strength from our ancestral wisdom and from each other as we unscroll the Torah to begin our sacred story again, with new intentions, lighting candles and welcoming Shabbat, celebrating life, choosing peace for all.
We invite you to stay after the ritual for DIY Shabbat dinner/vegetarian potluck. All ages, all faiths. Open, free and accessible to all.
Ritual led by Rabbi Amichai, Naomi Less with Rabbi Annie Lewis, Rabbi Yosef Goldman additional guest ritualists and musicians. Special activities for Children’s Program led by educator Kohenet Stephanie Guedalia. This event is in partnership with The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life.
