Dear Lab/Shul,

In just 2 more days we welcome the new year 5784! This sacred season, Lab/Shul is offering a tapestry of programming, complete with soaring, artist-driven ritual, intentional meditation and innovative offerings for families with children of all ages – all inspired by this year’s theme of HAVAYA/Everpresence.

Joining us? There’s still seats!

So many familiar and new faces have already reserved their seats  – including Hagar, right out of the pages of Genesis to remind us what it’s like to be a stranger and how it’s on us to welcome each other into our hearts and homes.

More highlights special for Rosh Hashanah 5784 include:

  • Hi, Honey! Welcome Reception – Kick off 5784 with style! Sip, dip and delight as we greet friends old and new, with wine, juice, apples and honey.

  • The Visual Language of God – Explore the art of renowned artist-in-residence Raanan Gabriel’s spiritual quest to witness the power, beauty, and abiding cosmic role of language in a globally digital age in the lobby art gallery.

  • Calling Your Grand –  Experience a Storahtelling ritual theater experience co-created by Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie, Rebecca S’manga Frank and Austin Purnell. The First Family of Semitic Patriarchy stars in the Torah story that’s chanted on the first day of the Jewish year – and it’s not the happiest of family reunions. One father, two mothers, two sons – and one great grandmother invite us to uncover older origins, reclaim hidden voices and re-imagine a better world for all. (estimated time – 11am on Saturday morning)

  • Tashlich + Picnic –  Shed last year’s attachments with focused intention, music, and joy. BYO picnic lunch and a blanket and join us at Rockefeller Park after our morning ritual!

  • March to End Fossil Fuels – Pray with your feet as we call on world leaders to take real steps to lead us off fossil fuels to protect people and the planet. Join Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie and Shira Kline for a pre-march ritual at 12:25pm before meeting up with the Multifaith Delegation.
