Our holy huts are up—and though it’s still warm in NYC, pumpkin spice season has arrived. Change is in the air. Our ritual season calls: What can we discover beyond the comfort of our homes and familiar truths? How might we deepen our connection with the world around us? Who can help turn our New Year intentions into action?
This moment in history is not an easy one. With war abroad, democracy under threat, divisions within our communities, and uncertainty at home, spiritual spaces like Lab/Shul are called to rise—with purpose, clarity, and care.
Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom—and inviting you to join us in a few meaningful ways:
Reflect
- As you reflect on being part of our community, please consider becoming a Lab/Shul Partner or making a High Holy Season contribution to help this beauty thrive. Your support sustains our creative, courageous, and meaningful work all year long.
- Take ten mindful minutes to share your reflections in our High Holy Days Survey. Your insights help us understand what moved you, what mattered most, and how we can continue to grow together as a community of meaning and belonging.
ReStart
Join us this weekend as we gather in community and begin again:
- Families – Friday 10/10 – Tonight we gather with FamilyLab for Shabbat Shalom in the Sukkah
- All Ages – Sunday, 10/12: Unscrolled — Together with the Kane Street Synagogue community, we’ll close the High Holy Days with a sacred gathering and circle ritual of healing, hope, and peace. Register here
- Adults – Tuesday, 10/14: ReCollect/Yizkor — A seasonal gathering to remember loved ones, share stories, and lift memory in community. Register Here.
ReCollect
We’re deeply grateful to Naomi Less, Ben Freeman and circle holders Jennifer Bleyer and Lori Roth Gale in bringing a meaningful Yizkor version of ReCollect to our community on Yom Kippur.
This Tuesday, October 14, join us for a Sukkot-inspired ReCollect/Yizkor with Rabbi Amichai — a seasonal gathering to remember loved ones, share stories, lift memory, and recite Kaddish together. Whether you’re grieving a recent loss, remembering someone long gone, or showing up in solidarity, we gather to honor the tender spaces left by those no longer at our tables. (Please note: This gathering will take the place of our regularly scheduled Thursday Virtual Kaddish Call.)
ReVisit
Relive some of the most powerful moments from the High Holy Days of Awe — the music, the Storahtelling, the meditation, the sermon — all gathered in one awe-some playlist.
Feel free to share it with family and friends to help spread the spirit of Tikkun – RePair.
Explore more reflective moments from Yom Kippur through the lens of Jesi Kelley & Joshua Kelley Kapaj.
ReConnect
Our 5786 season is just beginning, with a full calendar of events coming soon. In the meantime, join us for our first Zen Shabbat of the New Year—a shared ritual with the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care that blends the Jewish Sabbath slowdown with traditional Zazen meditation, in person and online.
Wishing you a peaceful Shabbat—see you soon 🕊️
