DESCRIPTION:Rise From Rubble\nMarking Judaism’s Saddest Day: How We Can Heal the Hate that Ruptures Reality?\nJoin Lab/Shul’s Rabbi Amichai and Ben Freeman\, with Rev. Derrick McQueen\, pastor of St. James Presbyterian Church\, and Jericho Vincent\, founder of Temple of the Stranger\, on the Fast of the 9th of Av to grieve in community and to explore how the ancestors can guide us in healing hatred within ourselves\, in our communities\, and in the world. \nJoin us in person in Harlem at St. James or tune in for a live-stream by Zoom. \nFor in-person participants\, we will conclude the program with a potluck break-fast. Please bring something vegetarian to share. \nRSVP here.\n  \nRev. Derrick McQueen earned his is a Ph. D. in Homiletics and New Testament at Union Theological Seminary (NYC). He also received an M. Div. in Worship and the Arts from Union; and a B.A. in Theater Arts from Drew University. Rev. Dr. McQueen is also the pastor of St. James Presbyterian Church in Harlem\, the oldest African American Presbyterian Church in New York City. St. James is an affirming congregation. Rev. McQueen and St. James are also in partnership with LAB/SHUL and he has joined LAB/SHUL as a Christian partner as a Ritual Leader for several High Holy Day Seasons. Rabbi Lau-Lavie and Rev. McQueen created and a two part set of anti-racism sessions\, “From Separation to Reparation.” The first accompanied several communities through the Holy Day Season. The second iteration worked through the issues partnering with the work of Howard Thurman’s Jesus and the Disinherited. Derrick also serves as Chair for the board of Auburn Seminary\, which equips bold and resilient leaders with the tools and resources needed for a multifaith world.\nwww.derrickmcqueen.com \nJericho Vincent is the founder and spiritual director of Temple of the Stranger\, a mystical community rooted in Jewish ancestral wisdom and open to all.
