SUMMARY:Go inside to Go Outside: Our Annual All-Faith Gathering for Healing on the Day of Atonement

SUMMARY:“Libi Davai”: A Communal Gathering to Mourn Those Lost to COVID-19
DESCRIPTION:Lab/Shul is honored to join T’ruah\, JFREJ\, and other partners in faith and justice for a ritual gathering of song\, liturgy\, and community in Central Park’s East Meadow on the evening of the 9th of Av\, August 7th\, so that we may ease our hearts together. \nTwo and a half-years into a global pandemic\, we see a deep need for a moment of communal acknowledgement of the vast loss experienced by our communities and our city. As the Jewish calendar urges us to reflect on historic pain and destruction\, we gather together to name and integrate our sense of loss\, mourning those whose lives have been taken by the pandemic\, and the pain caused by the exposure of the fatal gaps in societal webs of support for the most marginalized.  \nJoin Shira Kline and Rabbi Amichai\, along with leaders\, artists and activist from other communities and organizations\, in person and online\, to mark and end this fast\, together.  \nOn the afternoon of Tisha B’Av\, we seek not only to name and metabolize our collective grief\, but also to move forward– not to return to what has passed\, but to build ahead in mutual support and consolation.

SUMMARY:Seder Queen 5782
DESCRIPTION:Seder Queen 5782: Moses of the City\nA Jews of Color-centered Passover Seder\, Lab/Shul style.\nWelcome to Seder Queen\, co-led by Marques Hollie and Associate Director and Ritual Leader Naomi Less with support from the Lab/Shul Ritual Team.  We are honored to premiere the Moses of the City Haggadah as our core Passover ritual tool\, created by artist in residence\, Luis Burgos along with live music\, poetry\, theater and heart-centered powerful conversations centering the perspectives of Jews of Color.  \n \nSeder Queen reflects the diversity of Judaism and lifts up the work of Jews of Color in Jewish spaces that have been historically white. We hope that other Jews of Color will experience Seder Queen as transformative\, and know that they are not alone. We hope that white Jews will be moved to do the work of liberation alongside JOCs and know that JOCs are integral to Jewish continuity and to Jewish communal spaces. \n \nBuy your own Moses in the City Haggadah directly from Luis’ website.\nThis seder is generously supported by a grant from Jews of Color Initiative\, an organization which works to build a truly multiracial\, anti-racist Jewish community in which Jews of Color can experience joy and reach their full potential and belonging as leaders and community members. Lab/Shul is also proud to partner with Ammud: Jews of Color Torah Academy\, JOC Mishpacha Project\, LUNAR\, and Mitsui Collective for this evening.  \nFeatured Ritualists   \n\nAri L. To support this commitment\, we have devised a sliding scale which aims to take into account both the inequitable distribution of wealth in our society as well as the value of the labor required to offer this program. Lab/Shul is committed to resource redistribution\, which is why we ask you to think deeply about your relationship to class in general. If this is the first time you’ve been asked to consider class and wealth\, Seder Queen is a perfect opportunity to start! \nWe encourage participants to self-select into paying the amount that best correlates to your class position.  \nHere are two resources that we’ve found helpful to understand class in the U.S (thanks Amelia Mae Paradise and Franny Silverman for assisting our learning): \n\n“About Class” // Class Action\, a cross-class group working towards Economic Justice\n“Class distinctions and class brackets” // Resource Generation an organization supporting young people in equitable wealth\, land\, and power redistribution. This resource is helpful in discovering which class category you fall into.\n\nWe invite you to consider a Sponsorship level table or ticket if you fall into Tier 3.  \nMile Chai Club: A curated\, balcony level seating experience for young adults who have greater access to wealth. Consider this if you fall into Tier 2 or higher \nPartner Discount: Partnerhood works on the simple premise that each of us gives something of ourselves in order to get a whole lot more from each other. It’s designed to help create the deeply engaged\, cross-connected community you’ve told us you want. It’s about investing. It’s about flexibility. Interested in learning more about Partnerhood?
