SUMMARY:The Missing Megillah!
DESCRIPTION:This Purim Lab/Shul is taking the show on the road to a street near you – in person in NYC\, and online reaching the world. Join us as we reimagine the old-school\, outdoor spiel as a COVID-safe\, multi-access\, multi-media spectacle for audiences of all ages. Looking for a more adult Purim experience? Come to POSSESTHER! \n  \nThe Missing Megillah!\nFor Kids of All Ages \n14th Street Y Rooftop\, 344 E 14th St\, New York\, NY 10003 \n4:30pm-5:30pm EST \nIn Person Only; For Kids Ages 2-7 \nThe mayhem begins on the roof of the 14th Street Y where the Lab/Shul Megillah Mavens kick off the Purim Eve celebrations. What are we celebrating exactly? With the guidance of Lab/Shul’s finest\, kid-friendliest performers\, we will search high and low for clues to unlock the true meaning of Purim\, with some big laughs and lots of singing along the way. \nCOVID PROTOCOL: Families and children who are eligible for a vaccine will be required to show proof of vaccination and wear a mask at all times (if over 2 years old) while in the building. Once on the roof for the program\, masks for families will be optional. Read more from the 14th Street Y. \n  \nPURIM GUEST ARTIST IN RESIDENCE\n \nWe are thrilled to welcome back Elana June Margolis\, AKA Kohenet Chalav u’Dvash b’Tehom (the priestess of milk and honey in the void) as our Guest Artist in Residence for a second year! SUMMARY:Purim Dragtivity Time
DESCRIPTION:FamilyLab x Raising the Bar: Purim Dragtivity Time\nFamilies with ages 2-8 (siblings welcome) + our Raising the Bar current cohort + Raising the Bar Grads (and families) are invited to a powerful Purim celebration with Drag Queen Story Hour and Sez Me. Drag Queens and Artist Educators will guide our children of all ages to look beyond stereotypes and embrace unabashed expression of self.   \nAs Drag Queen Story Hour teaches\, “in spaces like this\, kids are able to… imagine a world where people can present as they wish\, where dress up is real.” \n  \nIn honor of the sharing and caring Purim traditions\, we’ll be packing gift bags of essentials for the Hetrick-Martin Institute – a New York City-based non-profit organization devoted to serving the needs of lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, or questioning youth ages 13–24\, and their families.   \nLearn more about the incredible work of Drag Queen Story Hour and Sez Me\, two organizations on the frontlines of social justice working toward inclusivity and acceptance in the field of gender identity and gender fluidity. \n***Please note: there will be a small video crew present at this event to capture footage for an organizational video which will be distributed publicly. If you do not wish to be filmed\, or have your child filmed\, you are still welcome to attend\, and our staff will ensure your wishes are respected.***
