SUMMARY:ReCollect/Yizkor
DESCRIPTION:ReCollect/Yizkor: Passover\nThursday\, April 9th\n12pm ET\nOnline\n\n\nSpring brings a season of memory – collective memory in the Passover story where the Jewish people left Egypt\, but there was much loss along the way. Passover is the second of three ancient pilgrimage holidays when collective community gathers to remember (Yizkor). We will gather at the end of Passover to reflect on the holiday and connect to our memories. \n*NOTE: this will take the place of Virtual Kaddish that week. \nLab/Shul’s ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones\, share stories\, lift memory\, and say Kaddish\, the ancient memorial prayer\, together. Throughout the year\, ReCollect meets near or on the times of memory (Yizkor) on the Jewish calendar (Yom Kippur\, Sukkot\, Passover and Shavuot). \nWhether you’ve experienced a recent loss\, are remembering a loved one who passed long ago\, or showing up in support of community\, you are welcome here. Together\, we acknowledge feelings of loss that can be particularly painful as we anticipate empty chairs at our tables and holes in our hearts. \n\nRegister here >

SUMMARY:Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO) 5-month Intercommunal Cohort
DESCRIPTION:Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO)\n5-month Intercommunal Cohort\nJanuary – June 2026\nOnline\nPrivate Cohort\nForm antiracist habits and behaviors through Jewish spiritual practice in this online course\, Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out. Hosted in partnership with Kirva\, an institute for Jewish spiritual tools for activists in service of a just world\, Lab/Shul is one of several communities participating in this intercommunal cohort. The cohort will meet on Zoom from January to June of 2026\, primarily on Thursday evenings from 6-8:15pm EST (a full course schedule is below). The 2 hour 15 minute sessions will be facilitated by Kirva faculty and the 1 hour practice sessions will be facilitated by experienced DRIO facilitators franny silverman and Rabbi Becky Jaye. \nAbout DRIO: Efforts to dismantle racism are often comprised of education\, advocacy\, and systemic change. These efforts are not enough —it’s crucial that we also do the inner work necessary to change our habits of mind\, body\, and spirit to wholly dismantle racism. Indeed\, it’s through strengthening our habits of mind\, body and spirit that we’ll be most effective and successful in our advocacy and organizing to dismantle racism systemically. We have ancestral wisdom available to support this change; Mussar is the Jewish spiritual discipline designed to integrate what the head understands with what the heart feels through daily practice. Emerge from this program with renewed ability and resilience to disrupt racism\, a regular spiritual practice\, and a set of concrete tools to support your antiracism efforts. Do note while this work is not directly connected to Israel/P\,alestine it is ultimately about strengthening our inner life to bring more equity and justice into the world and thus can support us in living our values at the highest level in this issue area as well. \nImpact: 80% of respondents share they’re better able to resist burnout and sustain themselves in the fight for racial justice\, and over 85% share they feel more equipped to confront and undo racism within themselves\, others and communal spaces. \nLevel: Intermediate — This course builds on an existing understanding of systemic racism and focuses on the application of antiracism through communities of practice. \nThis is a closed cohort. If you have interest in the next cohort\, please email ben@labshul.org.

SUMMARY:Judaism: Born Divided? / Below the Bible Belt 2
DESCRIPTION: Judaism: Born Divided? Below the Bible Belt 2\nTwelve Tribes of Israel – Fact or Fiction??\nSunday April 19\nLIVE | ONLINE\n\nWhen Did “Israel” Begin? The twelve tribes of Israel  —fact of fiction\, solid history or made-up myth? \nIt’s a fascinating mystery that deeply matters to who and what the people of Israel are really all about – today\, worldwide.\nOur fourth monthly session of Judaism:  Born Divided traces tribal truths\, well guarded secrets and surprising stories about siblings that never existed\, family ties that forged not one but two kingdoms\, brutal battles that tore them apart\, and the power of political stories that solidify claims to power despite disputes and different narratives. Tracing the twelve tribes reveals how Judean editors rewrote history—and how recovering suppressed northern models might expand our imagination for pluralistic Jewish peoplehood today. \nJoin for a close reading of biblical texts in conversation with archeology and critical history\, including Finkelstein’s The Forgotten Kingdom\, Avrum Burg’s “Israel Should Triumph Over Judah\,” and Shira Golani’s ‘The Two Blessings of the Twelve Tribes’. \nRead this prior to LIVE program \n\n***Lab/Shul Partners receive 50% off monthly/annual subscriptions***\nPartners click here to subscribe > \nBelow the Bible Belt Part 2 is an online Study Course with Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie. How the origin story of our forgotten feud can help direct us from discord and schism to diversity and pluralism. (January–December 2026) | More Info  \n

SUMMARY:Virtual Mourner's Kaddish Call
DESCRIPTION:Every Thursday @ 12:00pm EST\nOur weekly Mourner’s Kaddish phone call to honor loved ones with a community of like minded souls. In our modern reality where friends and family are spread out around the world and where regular synagogue/minyan attendance is challenging for many reasons\, this is an experiment in virtual ritual reality and global communal care. \nWant to receive updates\, special resources\, and reminders? Please email naomi@labshul.org to join the Lab/Shul Kaddish Club Google Group. \nHow It Works:\nLed by members of the Lab/Shul Ritual Team and community leaders of the Kaddish Club\, we gather on a free conference call to share our names and reason for reciting kaddish\, read a poem and learn a brief sacred teaching together\, and then recite the Kaddish together. 20-30 minutes or so\, depending on how many of us are on the call. \nOnline PDF of the Mourner’s Kaddish with transliteration and translation.\nHow To Call:\n \nMeeting ID: 874 2822 2970\nOne tap mobile\n+16465588656\,\,87428222970# US (New York)\n+16469313860\,\,87428222970# US \nOR\nClick the Zoom Meeting link\, and keep your video on or off. \n\nIf none of the above numbers work\, you can use the following location-specific numbers to call in.\nDial by your location\n+1 646 558 8656 US (New York)\n+1 646 931 3860 US\n+1 301 715 8592 US (Washington DC)\n+1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago)\n+1 669 444 9171 US\n+1 669 900 6833 US (San Jose)\n+1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma)\n+1 346 248 7799 US (Houston)\nMeeting ID: 874 2822 2970\nFind your local number: https://us06web.zoom.us/u/kbBHLWacV1
