DESCRIPTION:Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO)\n5-month Intercommunal Cohort\nJanuary – June 2026\nOnline\nPrivate Cohort\nForm antiracist habits and behaviors through Jewish spiritual practice in this online course\, Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out. Hosted in partnership with Kirva\, an institute for Jewish spiritual tools for activists in service of a just world\, Lab/Shul is one of several communities participating in this intercommunal cohort. The cohort will meet on Zoom from January to June of 2026\, primarily on Thursday evenings from 6-8:15pm EST (a full course schedule is below). The 2 hour 15 minute sessions will be facilitated by Kirva faculty and the 1 hour practice sessions will be facilitated by experienced DRIO facilitators franny silverman and Rabbi Becky Jaye. \nAbout DRIO: Efforts to dismantle racism are often comprised of education\, advocacy\, and systemic change. These efforts are not enough —it’s crucial that we also do the inner work necessary to change our habits of mind\, body\, and spirit to wholly dismantle racism. Indeed\, it’s through strengthening our habits of mind\, body and spirit that we’ll be most effective and successful in our advocacy and organizing to dismantle racism systemically. We have ancestral wisdom available to support this change; Mussar is the Jewish spiritual discipline designed to integrate what the head understands with what the heart feels through daily practice. Emerge from this program with renewed ability and resilience to disrupt racism\, a regular spiritual practice\, and a set of concrete tools to support your antiracism efforts. Do note while this work is not directly connected to Israel/P\,alestine it is ultimately about strengthening our inner life to bring more equity and justice into the world and thus can support us in living our values at the highest level in this issue area as well. \nImpact: 80% of respondents share they’re better able to resist burnout and sustain themselves in the fight for racial justice\, and over 85% share they feel more equipped to confront and undo racism within themselves\, others and communal spaces. \nLevel: Intermediate — This course builds on an existing understanding of systemic racism and focuses on the application of antiracism through communities of practice. \nThis is a closed cohort. DESCRIPTION:Tisha B’Av: Grief Ritual\nby Temple of the Stranger\nThursday\, July 23rd\n6:30-9:30pm EST\nBROOKLYN\nWe invite you to join our partners at Temple of the Stranger for an embodied ritual of grief and loss rooted in the Jewish ancestral tradition for Tisha B’Av\, the ancient Jewish day of communal mourning. \n\nOur ancestors knew that grief is not meant to be carried alone. We’ve inherited ancient\, embodied ways of working with grief together. With music and sound\, ritual and presence\, we’ll welcome our grief\, enter it\, move through it\, and let it move through us. This is an honest space for tears\, silence\, or whatever rises. We’ll then follow the journey from loss to relief\, and explore the stirrings of liberation planted at the close of this day. We’ll share light bites of sacred food* to seal the ceremony. \nFeaturing Rav Jericho Vincent\, Rabbi Yosef Goldman\, Chaya Morgan. \nDoors open at 6:30. The ceremony will start promptly at 6:40. Please arrive on time. This experience is open to people of all backgrounds. No prior experience with Judaism or Tisha B’Av is necessary. \nDress code: Black grief attire\, honoring loss\, reverence\, or remembrance in whatever way feels true to you. Open to folks aged 18+ who are Jewish\, Jew-ish\, and non-Jewish. Guided by Rabbi Jericho Vincent of Temple of the Stranger and Spiritual Leader Shira Kline of Lab/Shul\, we will enter a shared field of chant\, breath\, and embodied ritual. \nThrough ancient melodies\, contemplative practice\, and participatory ceremony\, we’ll create space to soften\, listen\, and remember. \nThis gathering is an invitation to be carried by sound\, to connect with yourself and others\, and to step into the mysterious terrain that Tu B’Av opens: the possibility of love\, belonging\, longing\, and encounter. Ivri is our most ancient communal name\, Hebrew for “one who crosses over.” It is also term we use to describe a growing movement of Jews reclaiming ancestral practices\, cultivating new forms of embodied ritual\, and exploring spiritual life rooted in our lineage. \nShira and Rabbi Jericho are two of the incredible spiritual leaders in this nascent movement. \nNo prior experience is necessary.
