Throughout the year\, ReCollect meets near or on the times of memory (Yizkor) on the Jewish calendar (Yom Kippur\, Sukkot\, Passover and Shavuot). \nWhether you’ve experienced a recent loss\, are remembering a loved one who passed long ago\, or showing up in support of community\, you are welcome here. DESCRIPTION:Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO)\n5-month Intercommunal Cohort\nJanuary – June 2026\nOnline\nPrivate Cohort\nForm antiracist habits and behaviors through Jewish spiritual practice in this online course\, Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out. Hosted in partnership with Kirva\, an institute for Jewish spiritual tools for activists in service of a just world\, Lab/Shul is one of several communities participating in this intercommunal cohort. The cohort will meet on Zoom from January to June of 2026\, primarily on Thursday evenings from 6-8:15pm EST (a full course schedule is below). The 2 hour 15 minute sessions will be facilitated by Kirva faculty and the 1 hour practice sessions will be facilitated by experienced DRIO facilitators franny silverman and Rabbi Becky Jaye. \nAbout DRIO: Efforts to dismantle racism are often comprised of education\, advocacy\, and systemic change. These efforts are not enough —it’s crucial that we also do the inner work necessary to change our habits of mind\, body\, and spirit to wholly dismantle racism. Indeed\, it’s through strengthening our habits of mind\, body and spirit that we’ll be most effective and successful in our advocacy and organizing to dismantle racism systemically. We have ancestral wisdom available to support this change; Mussar is the Jewish spiritual discipline designed to integrate what the head understands with what the heart feels through daily practice. Emerge from this program with renewed ability and resilience to disrupt racism\, a regular spiritual practice\, and a set of concrete tools to support your antiracism efforts. Do note while this work is not directly connected to Israel/P\,alestine it is ultimately about strengthening our inner life to bring more equity and justice into the world and thus can support us in living our values at the highest level in this issue area as well. \nImpact: 80% of respondents share they’re better able to resist burnout and sustain themselves in the fight for racial justice\, and over 85% share they feel more equipped to confront and undo racism within themselves\, others and communal spaces. \nLevel: Intermediate — This course builds on an existing understanding of systemic racism and focuses on the application of antiracism through communities of practice. \nThis is a closed cohort. SUMMARY:Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO) 5-month Intercommunal Cohort
DESCRIPTION:Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO)\n5-month Intercommunal Cohort\nJanuary – June 2026\nOnline\nPrivate Cohort\nForm antiracist habits and behaviors through Jewish spiritual practice in this online course\, Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out. Hosted in partnership with Kirva\, an institute for Jewish spiritual tools for activists in service of a just world\, Lab/Shul is one of several communities participating in this intercommunal cohort. The cohort will meet on Zoom from January to June of 2026\, primarily on Thursday evenings from 6-8:15pm EST (a full course schedule is below). The 2 hour 15 minute sessions will be facilitated by Kirva faculty and the 1 hour practice sessions will be facilitated by experienced DRIO facilitators franny silverman and Rabbi Becky Jaye. \nAbout DRIO: Efforts to dismantle racism are often comprised of education\, advocacy\, and systemic change. These efforts are not enough —it’s crucial that we also do the inner work necessary to change our habits of mind\, body\, and spirit to wholly dismantle racism. Indeed\, it’s through strengthening our habits of mind\, body and spirit that we’ll be most effective and successful in our advocacy and organizing to dismantle racism systemically. We have ancestral wisdom available to support this change; Mussar is the Jewish spiritual discipline designed to integrate what the head understands with what the heart feels through daily practice. Emerge from this program with renewed ability and resilience to disrupt racism\, a regular spiritual practice\, and a set of concrete tools to support your antiracism efforts. Do note while this work is not directly connected to Israel/P\,alestine it is ultimately about strengthening our inner life to bring more equity and justice into the world and thus can support us in living our values at the highest level in this issue area as well. \nImpact: 80% of respondents share they’re better able to resist burnout and sustain themselves in the fight for racial justice\, and over 85% share they feel more equipped to confront and undo racism within themselves\, others and communal spaces. \nLevel: Intermediate — This course builds on an existing understanding of systemic racism and focuses on the application of antiracism through communities of practice. \nThis is a closed cohort. DESCRIPTION:Inaugural NYC Nakba Remembrance Ceremony Satellite\nFriday\, May 15\, 2026\n3:30pm EST Live Broadcast\n(Immediately preceding Sabbath Queen)\nNYC\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrior to Sabbath Queen\, we invite you to join us and Lab/Shul Partner and event co-organizer\, Gili Getz\, to watch the ceremony together at Judson Memorial Church.  \nThe Joint Nakba Remembrance Ceremony is a unique opportunity to commemorate the pain and tragedy of the Nakba (“catastrophe” in Arabic)\, when in 1948 more than 700\,000 Palestinians were forcibly expelled from their homes\, became refugees\, and had their villages and cities destroyed. In Israel\, even mentioning the Nakba is completely taboo\, however\, Combatants for Peace believes that peace and reconciliation involve a sincere and honest reckoning with this history that didn’t end in 1948 but continues until this day. \nThis year’s theme is “Sumud in Humanity”. Sumud—meaning resilience—is often understood as steadfastness\, unbreakability\, and a deep connection to land. Yet we believe Sumud is not the absence of pain; it is the conscious choice to remain human\, especially when circumstances make it easier to dehumanize others. It is the courage to continue believing in justice and shared resistance when despair feels more rational. It means safeguarding our core humanity—dignity\, compassion\, and moral clarity—even when both history and present realities put it to the test. \nThis ceremony is rooted in the core belief of Combatants for Peace: that genuinely understanding the lived experiences and historical narratives of both societies is essential to breaking the cycle of violence and building a different future.
