DESCRIPTION:Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO)\n5-month Intercommunal Cohort\nJanuary – June 2026\nOnline\nPrivate Cohort\nForm antiracist habits and behaviors through Jewish spiritual practice in this online course\, Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out. Hosted in partnership with Kirva\, an institute for Jewish spiritual tools for activists in service of a just world\, Lab/Shul is one of several communities participating in this intercommunal cohort. The cohort will meet on Zoom from January to June of 2026\, primarily on Thursday evenings from 6-8:15pm EST (a full course schedule is below). The 2 hour 15 minute sessions will be facilitated by Kirva faculty and the 1 hour practice sessions will be facilitated by experienced DRIO facilitators franny silverman and Rabbi Becky Jaye. \nAbout DRIO: Efforts to dismantle racism are often comprised of education\, advocacy\, and systemic change. These efforts are not enough —it’s crucial that we also do the inner work necessary to change our habits of mind\, body\, and spirit to wholly dismantle racism. Indeed\, it’s through strengthening our habits of mind\, body and spirit that we’ll be most effective and successful in our advocacy and organizing to dismantle racism systemically. We have ancestral wisdom available to support this change; Mussar is the Jewish spiritual discipline designed to integrate what the head understands with what the heart feels through daily practice. Emerge from this program with renewed ability and resilience to disrupt racism\, a regular spiritual practice\, and a set of concrete tools to support your antiracism efforts. Do note while this work is not directly connected to Israel/P\,alestine it is ultimately about strengthening our inner life to bring more equity and justice into the world and thus can support us in living our values at the highest level in this issue area as well. \nImpact: 80% of respondents share they’re better able to resist burnout and sustain themselves in the fight for racial justice\, and over 85% share they feel more equipped to confront and undo racism within themselves\, others and communal spaces. \nLevel: Intermediate — This course builds on an existing understanding of systemic racism and focuses on the application of antiracism through communities of practice. \nThis is a closed cohort. In our latest iteration\, we are gathering a cohort each month for 4 weekly conversations offering communication skill-building and a forum for dialogue across disagreement. But in our upside-down version\, difference is not a threat but a source of strength\, and truth-telling and real talk are what change the fate of the Jewish people.  \nMitzi – Lab/Shul’s resident Commander/Prophetess/Mistress of Ceremonies – returns to perform another Purim Mitzvah\, this time to repair the story of Purim. How will she do it? SUMMARY:Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO) 5-month Intercommunal Cohort
DESCRIPTION:Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out (DRIO)\n5-month Intercommunal Cohort\nJanuary – June 2026\nOnline\nPrivate Cohort\nForm antiracist habits and behaviors through Jewish spiritual practice in this online course\, Dismantling Racism from the Inside Out. Hosted in partnership with Kirva\, an institute for Jewish spiritual tools for activists in service of a just world\, Lab/Shul is one of several communities participating in this intercommunal cohort. The cohort will meet on Zoom from January to June of 2026\, primarily on Thursday evenings from 6-8:15pm EST (a full course schedule is below). The 2 hour 15 minute sessions will be facilitated by Kirva faculty and the 1 hour practice sessions will be facilitated by experienced DRIO facilitators franny silverman and Rabbi Becky Jaye. \nAbout DRIO: Efforts to dismantle racism are often comprised of education\, advocacy\, and systemic change. These efforts are not enough —it’s crucial that we also do the inner work necessary to change our habits of mind\, body\, and spirit to wholly dismantle racism. Indeed\, it’s through strengthening our habits of mind\, body and spirit that we’ll be most effective and successful in our advocacy and organizing to dismantle racism systemically. We have ancestral wisdom available to support this change; Mussar is the Jewish spiritual discipline designed to integrate what the head understands with what the heart feels through daily practice. Emerge from this program with renewed ability and resilience to disrupt racism\, a regular spiritual practice\, and a set of concrete tools to support your antiracism efforts. Do note while this work is not directly connected to Israel/P\,alestine it is ultimately about strengthening our inner life to bring more equity and justice into the world and thus can support us in living our values at the highest level in this issue area as well. \nImpact: 80% of respondents share they’re better able to resist burnout and sustain themselves in the fight for racial justice\, and over 85% share they feel more equipped to confront and undo racism within themselves\, others and communal spaces. \nLevel: Intermediate — This course builds on an existing understanding of systemic racism and focuses on the application of antiracism through communities of practice. \nThis is a closed cohort.
