Through this creative activity\, children will connect to stories of courage and creativity from Israel in a way that is meaningful and age-appropriate.\nThe program will be led by Yifat Zazak-Dromi\, a member of Kibbutz Kfar Aza and survivor of the October 7 attack. Yifat\, a graphic designer and longtime Jewish Agency educator\, combines art\, education\, and community engagement. She created the Wings of Hope initiative in memory of her close friend Livnat Katz and her family\, who were murdered on October 7. Naomi tapped into her own struggle towards motherhood\, co-creating TRYmester\, a performance art piece for Uprooted: A Jewish Response to Fertility Challenges. Eliana has shared her unique “t’fillahsophy” as faculty at national Jewish education and songleading conferences\, as a guest teacher at Hebrew Union College\, the Jewish Theological Seminary\, the Academy for Jewish Religion\, and Limmud\, and at synagogues\, day schools\, camps\, and communities across North America. ORAH HI\, her fourth album of playful\, thoughtful original Jewish music\, was released in fall 2023\, and her fifth album\, Eliana Rhymes (About Jewish Times)\, will be out this fall. For Hanukkah – and as a continuation of the brave conversations we began on Kol Nidre – we’re opening this month’s Salon to all Partners. This gathering offers a space to spark hope and a first glimpse of our returning Courageous Conversations 2026 cohort – a community experience rooted in empathy\, dialogue\, and deep listening that has supported and sustained us in recent years. \nFacilitated in person by Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie and online by Melissa Shaw\, this Salon welcomes anyone ready to listen deeply\, speak thoughtfully\, and sit with complexity in community. \nOur Courageous Conversations framework draws on years of Lab/Shul practice: professionally guided dialogue\, a blend of large talking circle and small group formats\, this series nurtures understanding\, empathy\, and essential communication skills while embracing the diverse perspectives\, beliefs\, and experiences that shape our collective fabric. We head into the lighting of lights – as we prepare for this time\, let us gather to create light in community. \nWe invite you to bring your loved one’s memory to our Special Sabbath Queen Friday Night ritual. Meet your fellow travelers Kaddish Club\, light a candle\, break bread and be together in the season of light. ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones\, together. \nWhether experiencing a recent loss\, remembering a loved one who passed away long ago\, or showing up in support of community\, we gather to acknowledge feelings of loss that can be particularly painful as we anticipate an empty chair at our tables. \nThis special Sabbath Queen ReCollect will take place as a small gathering immediately prior to the Sabbath Queen Ritual on at 6:00pm ET IN PERSON and 6:30pm ONLINE. \n\nIf you are joining online – please stay on the zoom after the ritual for a special candle lighting and memory sharing gathering. BYO Candle.\nIf you are joining in person – please note the event will take place indoors in Manhattan.
