Hear how grief writing helped two grievers as they navigated Jewish mourning rituals\, and explore writing prompts to help you tell your own grief story. This experiential writing workshop will include the opportunity to share in optional small-group breakout sessions. \nThis is part of a 2-part writing workshop series with Shomer Collective. Put it on Paper focuses on both the external and internal experiences of mortality; grief writing (this program) is a space to engage with the deaths of others whom we have known and loved\, while ethical wills prompt us to consider our own legacies. All are welcome to either or both sessions. \nThis session and series will be recorded. The workshop will offer a taste of The Way of Council\, the way of listening and speaking from the heart\, which is what created the strong roots of their connection and work together. \n“October 7th tore apart reality as we knew it in Israel-Palestine. Our perception of how things are was shattered on multiple levels and has affected not only those living on this land but many people and communities around the world. We are still in shock in far too many ways\, and worse\, see no end in sight. We – Itaf Awad and Aura Hammer – who have worked together for over 20 years as carriers of the way of peace\, equality\, of connection\, found ourselves on the brink of being torn away from each other\, the pain we experienced was so profound. Our 20 year collaboration and sisterhood are built on the foundation of creating a safe space for each other and for others. A space for holding joy and pain\, for deep honest relationships. Dr. Yasmeen Abu-Fraiha and Avi Dabush\, two amazing activists and leaders who experienced some of the trauma of that day\, joined NIF’s Daniel and Libby\, to share their stories just a few days after the seventh. \nAvi spoke of spending the day hiding with his family in his safe room as terrorists invaded his kibbutz. Yasmeen spoke to us from the largest hospital in the south\, Soroka Medical Center\, where she was treating victims around the clock in the ER. \nNow\, one year later\, we’re checking back in with them and taking a moment to check in on ourselves. Join us on Monday\, October 7\, 12 PM ET / 11 AM CT / 9 AM PT to be in community together as we get all four of their perspectives on this past year\, mourn those we have lost\, and discuss where we are and where we’re going. \nIn the last year\, even as each of us has experienced so much pain\, NIF has endeavored to be there where it matters most.
