DESCRIPTION:Seder Queen 5782: Moses of the City\nA Jews of Color-centered Passover Seder\, Lab/Shul style.\nWelcome to Seder Queen\, co-led by Marques Hollie and Associate Director and Ritual Leader Naomi Less with support from the Lab/Shul Ritual Team.  We are honored to premiere the Moses of the City Haggadah as our core Passover ritual tool\, created by artist in residence\, Luis Burgos along with live music\, poetry\, theater and heart-centered powerful conversations centering the perspectives of Jews of Color.  \n \nSeder Queen reflects the diversity of Judaism and lifts up the work of Jews of Color in Jewish spaces that have been historically white. We hope that other Jews of Color will experience Seder Queen as transformative\, and know that they are not alone. We hope that white Jews will be moved to do the work of liberation alongside JOCs and know that JOCs are integral to Jewish continuity and to Jewish communal spaces. \n \nBuy your own Moses in the City Haggadah directly from Luis’ website.\nThis seder is generously supported by a grant from Jews of Color Initiative\, an organization which works to build a truly multiracial\, anti-racist Jewish community in which Jews of Color can experience joy and reach their full potential and belonging as leaders and community members. Sit\, Exhale… \n(7:15pm Zoom Opens)  \n7:30pm – START of Zen Shabbat: Ritual music\, meditation\, and spiritual teachings led by Sensei Koshin Paley Ellison and Spiritual Leader\, Shira Kline. \nLocation & Capacity\nWe are thrilled to hold Zen Shabbat in person at the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care\, and on Zoom! In order to keep our community safe\, and socially-distanced\, we are limiting in-person capacity to thirty people. \nAll in-person registrants will be entered into a lottery\, with a drawing held the Wednesday before Zen Shabbat and confirmation messages sent out the same day. We thank you for your flexibility as we “lab” this new\, equitable system for honoring venue capacity. \nCOVID Safety\nFor folks attending in person\, proof of vaccination will be required for entry. DESCRIPTION:ReCollect\nA Seasonal Kaddish Gathering\nHosted by Lab/Shul’s Kaddish Club\n\nLab/Shul’s Recollect/Yizkor gatherings offer grief support for those in active mourning\, experiencing loss and/or observing a yahrzeit. \nWhether experiencing a recent loss\, remembering a loved one who passed long ago\, or showing up to support community\, we will gather each season to acknowledge feelings of loss that can be particularly painful as we anticipate an empty chair at the table. We will share memories and poetry\, break bread together\, and recite Kaddish for our loved ones – the ancient memorial prayer. \n  \nAs we prepare for the upcoming Passover holiday\, a time when the pain of loss may be more on the surface as we anticipate holidays without our loved ones\, we will be gathering both IN PERSON in NYC and VIRTUALLY online.  \n  \nApril 11th at 7:00pm we will gather IN PERSON in NYC\, held in space by facilitators Naomi Less and Dina Friedman.  \nApril 23rd at 12pm\, the end of Passover when Yizkor/Memorial prayers are traditionally recited\, we will gather VIRTUALLY\, held in space by facilitators Naomi Less and Lori Roth Gale. Memorial prayers will be chanted.  \n  \nWhichever event you choose\, you will be held with love. In our modern reality where friends and family are spread out around the world and where regular synagogue/minyan attendance is challenging for many reasons\, this is an experiment in virtual ritual reality and global communal care. \nWant to receive updates\, special resources\, and reminders? DESCRIPTION:Zen Shabbat\nA Jewish and Zen Shabbat Celebration – In Person & On Zoom\nLab/Shul and the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care invite you to a shared experience of sacred space and time\, harmonizing Jewish and Zen traditions in the celebration of Sabbath spirit. The fourth of our seasonal Zen Shabbats welcomes summertime revelations. \n7:00pm – Breathe\, welcome to the space. Exhale… \n7:30pm – Ritual music\, meditation\, spiritual teaching\, and conversation led by Sensei Koshin Paley Ellison\, and Co-Founder and Spiritual Leader Shira Kline \nLocation & Capacity\nWe are thrilled to hold Zen Shabbat in person at the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care\, and on Zoom! In order to keep our community safe\, and socially-distanced\, we are limiting in-person capacity to thirty people. \nAll in-person registrants will be entered into a lottery\, with a drawing held the Wednesday before Zen Shabbat and confirmation messages sent out the same day. We thank you for your flexibility as we “lab” this new\, equitable system for honoring venue capacity. \nCOVID Safety\nFor folks attending in person\, proof of vaccination will be required for entry. Masks must be worn indoors at all times. \nAccessibility\nThe NYZC is within 1 block of the 1\, 2\, N\, Q\, R\, and W trains. There are no steps to enter the space\, and chairs will be provided.
