DESCRIPTION:FamilyTree: Love And Justice\nAn Interactive Family Journey to Learn\, Create\, Share and Play in the Joy of Jewish Values\nChild-centered and parent-guided\, Lab/Shul’s FamilyTree: Love and Justice is a community-building experience driven by dynamic learning and shared values. \nOur 2nd semester is dedicated to “Love and Justice: A Family Roadmap for Connection.” FamilyTree curates Jewish values and wisdoms to nourish our relationship to self\, to others\, and to the world around us. Each semester of FamilyTree can be taken independently – no need to have taken Semester 1 to join us for Semester 2! \nThis journey is designed for families with children ages 4-6 years old (siblings welcome!). \nWith Lab/Shul’s unique God-optional approach to tradition\, text\, and story\, FamilyTree: Love and Justice is open to those who identify as Jewish\, Jew-ish\, and those who love them. \nHere’s How It Works:\n\nUpon joining\, families receive an artful wooden tree cut-out and a set of stick-on leaves.  \nAt the top of each week\, we introduce a new lesson and theme. We email you a digital package including an engaging\, interactive video plus a series of family-guided conversational prompts for meal times and bedtime.  \nThroughout the week\, families are encouraged to record learnings\, questions\, and responses to the prompts onto their leaves and attach to their FamilyTrees.\nOn Sunday morning\, families come together online for a 40 minute hands-on\, lively session layered with storytelling\, puppetry and songs to deepen the connection and to see each other’s Trees in bloom.\n\nDates & Times\nFamilyTree: Love and Justice will meet online on Sunday mornings\, from 11:00am-11:40EST \nApril 18 – Chesed חֶסֶד‎: A little compassion goes a long way. Derrick McQueen and Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie invite you to continue our journey from Separation to Reparation\, committed to sustained solidarity and systemic change. Join us for monthly online sessions (followed by optional peer-to-peer learning)\, held from January to June 2021\, focusing on the legacy of Howard Thurman\, leading theologian and civic rights leader as we deepen our understanding of history and reality\, private response and public responsibility. \nWe hope that the teachings of Thurman\, as well as the voices of many other important inspirations\, will help us delve deeper into the difficult and sensitive topic of racism in American life – leading us towards a more conscious collective response and repair.  \nDates\nThird Thursday of the month January through June\, from 7pm – 8:30pm EST.\nThe first two classes are open to all\, for prospective participants to get a feel for the course. DESCRIPTION:Bring Back Our Girls\n\nThe #BringBackOurGirls Movement raised the alarm 7 years ago about the need for urgent government and citizen intervention to rescue the Chibok Girls\, to keep our school children and communities safe\, and to prevent criminal and violent elements from having free reign.\n\nRegrettably\, our worst fears have come to pass as kidnappings of school children have continued in Nigeria.\n\n\n\nBring Back Our Girls Global is launching a renewed global campaign to bring back the girls “Until they are all free.” Over the next six months\, BBOG Abuja\, BBOG Lagos\, BBOG New York\, and other BBOG groups around the world will come together to push for a logical end of seven years of advocacy with the final return of our girls. We will seek international support and call upon international bodies and governments to ensure that the Nigerian government keeps its promise to bring back our girls.\n\nOn Zoom\nLend your voice and influence to one of the events on Wednesday\, April 14\, 2021 to mark the 7th anniversary of the abduction. 112 Chibok girls are still missing and many more children\, women and men have been abducted.\n\n\nIn Person\n\nThere is a GLOBAL event on April 14th at 11:30am (zoom) followed by a live march from the Church Center of the UN.\n777 United Nations Plaza\, New York\, NY 10017 (MAP) \n\nYou can do one or both. \n\n\nclick here to register for the global event\n\n\n\nDemands from BBOG\nWe remind President Muhammadu Buhari of his statement at his inauguration in 2015 that “We can not claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by insurgents.”  But the actions – or rather\, the inaction – of the Federal Government over our daughters\, while repeatedly claiming that the terrorists have been defeated while our girls remain in bondage\, is a painful reminder that this administration does not value the lives of our precious girls who have been abandoned by the government that is supposed to protect them.\n\nWe demand the Nigerian Federal Government takes these seven actions without further delay!      \n\n\nBring back our girls WITHOUT FURTHER DELAY! \n\n\nProvide a full report on the status of all investigations\, operations and missions to bring back the remaining 112 Chibok young women\, including the release of the General Ibrahim Sabo Report. \n\n\nProvide psycho-social support for traumatized Chibok and other affected families and immediately reopen a properly resourced and staffed Chibok Desk at the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to keep parents informed and to provide support to families of abducted children. \n\n\nComplete and reopen the Government Secondary School\, Chibok.  In 2016 the Goodluck Jonahtan administration pledged 500 million naira to rebuild the school with full state of the art facilities. Till date\, the school remains closed and incomplete. We demand the completion of the school\, its re-opening and a full investigation into the funds released. \n\n\nReport on the whereabouts of Halima Ali\, a captive Chibok girl who was able to recently speak to her father and other family members on the phone in 2021 and who was allegedly in the hands of authorities but has not been heard from again. \n\n\nProvision of trained security personnel for schools and accountability for the status and progress of the Safe Schools Initiative. We cannot continue to see case after case of children being abducted from their schools. We demand adequate security for all public schools including emergency response training of staff on early warning protocols. \n\n\nProvide an update on the funding and status of the Missing Persons Register program at the National Human Rights Commission and ways in which the Victim Support Fund has been applied to support victims of the insurgency in the NE including the families of the Chibok girls\, the Chibok community\, other conflict-affected communities\, and the education of children with no access to local schools..
