DESCRIPTION:Zen Shabbat\nFriday\, March 29th\n6:30pm ET\nNYC\nLab/Shul and the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care invite you to the third of four seasonal Zen Shabbat gatherings\, in person and online. This ritual is a very special shared experience of sacred space and time\, harmonizing the Jewish Sabbath slowdown with traditional Zazen meditation practice. We welcome special guest Billy Jonas to join our team this evening. \nZen Shabbat offers a medicinal invitation to sit\, guided with much needed breath\, sabbath prayers\, song and dharma. We dedicate this month’s ritual to Springtime’s welcome and  all the ways with which we can bring more peace and healing to the world.  \nFollowing the ritual at 8:30pm\, Rabbi Amichai\, Shira\, and Senseis Koshin and Chodo invite you to stay in the Zendo\, for a 45 minute heart circle and check in. Their latest project is The Juneteenth Seder Project”. \nJon Adam Ross\, Executive Director\nJon Adam Ross has spent more than 25 years making art with communities around the country as an actor\, playwright\, and teaching artist and the last 8 years as a co-founding artist and Executive Director of the In[HEIR]itance Project. Jon has served as an artist in residence at Union Theological Seminary\, The Jewish Theological Seminary of America\, and many other religious and educational institutions. Jon has been a Covenant Foundation Fellow\, a LABA Fellow\, a Pedagogies Research Fellow with M²\, a Cogenerate Innovation Fellow\, and a Spielberg Fellow in Theater Education with the Foundation for Jewish Camp. Jon holds a BFA in Acting from NYU/Tisch. With the Inheritance Theater Project\, a national arts non-profit that works with communities to build relationships across divides through collaborative theater projects inspired by shared cultural touchstones\, Jon has co-created original plays in communities all over America. As an actor\, Jon has performed in over 90 cities around the globe. His stage credits include: a dog\, a 2\,000-year-old bird\, an elderly orthodox Jew\, a spurned housewife\, a horse\, a British naval officer in 1700s Jamaica\, a goat\, Jesus Christ\, a lawyer\, a wrestler\, a hapless police chief\, and a cyclops. \nZhailon Levingston\nZhailon is a Louisiana-raised storyteller\, director\, and activist whose work has developed original work in New York and throughout the country. He co-created and serves on the Board of the Broadway Advocacy Coalition where he helped create the curriculum of their Theatre of Change course\, started at Columbia Law School. Zhailon has done work with organizations like Idina Menzel’s A Broader Way Foundation\, and co founded the Arts/Advocacy campaign #WordsonWhite. He was the Resident Director for “Tina: The Tina Tuner Musical”\, the Associate Director of “Hadestown” in Korea\, and became the youngest Black director in Broadway history when he directed “Chicken and Biscuits\,” one of the first shows to open on Broadway after the shutdown. Zhailon recently directed “Patience” at Second Stage Uptown. Zhailon is the Co-director of “Reconstruction” with Tony Award-winner Rachel Chavkin\, and the upcoming New York revival of “CATS” at PAC NYC.

Prior to joining NIF\, Libby lived and worked in the Israeli non-profit field for almost a decade. There she worked as Director of International Relations at the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) and as a strategy consultant for human rights organizations like Yesh Din and Physicians for Human Rights\, for documentary films including Budrus and The Law in These Parts\, new media initiatives like +972 Magazine\, and for progressive campaigns. We will gather to hold the pain together\, Israelis and Palestinians\, people of different faiths\, united in grief and hopes for healing\, to remember the losses of this terrible day and all the terrible days that followed\, to hold each other’s pain and share visions for a future of repair\, justice\, and peace–for all. \nIn the middle of this ongoing conflict\, and in the midst of the Jewish season of repentance\, reconciliation and repair\, we join remarkable Jewish Israeli and Palestinian women from three organizations –Tomorrow’s Women\, Women of Vision\, and Standing Together – all working to weave a new narrative of coexistence\, and to build new leadership for a shared future of hope\, dignity and lasting peace. Dr. Yasmeen Abu-Fraiha and Avi Dabush\, two amazing activists and leaders who experienced some of the trauma of that day\, joined NIF’s Daniel and Libby\, to share their stories just a few days after the seventh. \nAvi spoke of spending the day hiding with his family in his safe room as terrorists invaded his kibbutz. Yasmeen spoke to us from the largest hospital in the south\, Soroka Medical Center\, where she was treating victims around the clock in the ER. \nNow\, one year later\, we’re checking back in with them and taking a moment to check in on ourselves. Join us on Monday\, October 7\, 12 PM ET / 11 AM CT / 9 AM PT to be in community together as we get all four of their perspectives on this past year\, mourn those we have lost\, and discuss where we are and where we’re going. \nIn the last year\, even as each of us has experienced so much pain\, NIF has endeavored to be there where it matters most. DESCRIPTION:Face to Face: A Talk About Atonement\nwith Guests Maoz Inon and Aziz Abu Sarah\, Palestinian & Israeli Peacemakers\nFri\, October 11 | Yom Kippur Eve\n(Directly following Kol Nidrei Ritual)\n9-10:30pm EST\nTribeca + Online\nThe Lab/Shul community\, in partnership with  New Israel Fund and ALBI\, is honored to invite two extraordinary peacemakers to join us for FACE TO FACE – a special program on the eve of the Day of Atonement. \nAziz Abu Sarah and Maoz Inon feel the loss and pain of October 7th and the carnage in Gaza and the West Bank that has followed especially keenly: both have lost family to the conflict. \nSince October 7th\, the two have appeared on various international forums regarding their partnership in establishing peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Earlier this year they traveled together to Verona\, Italy to meet Pope Francis and share their vision for the future: one where Israelis and Palestinians can move forward and live side by side. \n\nAziz Abu Sarah is a Palestinian peacebuilder\, entrepreneur\, and international speaker. He is the co-founder of InterAct International and MEJDI Tours\, and the former executive director of the Center for World Religions\, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University.\nMaoz Inon is an Israeli social entrepreneur and peace activist.
