SUMMARY:Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Day Ceremony 2025
DESCRIPTION:Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Day Ceremony\nApril 29\, 2025\n8:30pm Jerusalem / 1:30pm EST\nONLINE\nAbout the Ceremony \nThe Joint Memorial Day Ceremony\, organized by Combatants for Peace and The Parents Circle Families Forum\, is one of the largest Israeli-Palestinian jointly organized peace events in history. The Joint Memorial Ceremony provides a unique opportunity for Israelis and Palestinians to grieve together and stand strong in demanding an end to the occupation and ongoing violence. The ceremony occurs yearly on the eve of Yom HaZikaron (Israeli Memorial Day). In Israeli mainstream culture\, the ceremonies that are most often held to honor this day serve to reinforce cultural narratives of pain\, victimhood\, and hopelessness. The Joint Memorial transforms this narrative by bringing Palestinians to the Memorial alongside Israelis to mourn side by side and model another way forward. \nOn April 29\, 2025\, we will gather for the Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Day Ceremony\, in a powerful act of defiance against the forces that seek to divide us. Now in its 20th year\, the Joint Memorial is a beacon of hope in the darkness. Through testimonies from bereaved Israeli and Palestinian families\, musical performances\, and messages of peace from human rights leaders\, we will prove that even in the face of unimaginable loss\, we can still choose humanity over hatred and hope over despair. The ceremony will take place at 8:30 pm Jerusalem time / 1:30 pm ET. \nREGISTER >>

SUMMARY:Special Preview Screening of There Is Another Way
DESCRIPTION:Special Preview Screening of There Is Another Way\nwith Guest Speaker Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie\n\nThursday\, January 23\, 2025\n7pm – 9:30pm EST\nNYC\nIn the midst of darkness\, we discover who we truly are. \nJoin us in a sacred space for a special preview screening of There Is Another Way followed by a meaningful conversation with filmmakers and Combatants for Peace members centered on collective liberation. \nThere Is Another Way\, a powerful new documentary\, tells the story of a group of visionaries – Combatants for Peace – who refuse to surrender to violence and injustice\, and in doing so show that another path is possible – for them\, for us\, and for all humanity. As we are all faced with essential questions about who we are\, will we choose collective liberation\, where the needs\, rights\, and safety of all are prioritized – in which our humanity comes first\, knowing that no one is free until everyone is free. \nCombatants for Peace is an extraordinary bi-national group of former enemy combatants – Israelis and Palestinians – working together during an ongoing armed conflict. Confronted with the devastation and escalating violence of October 7th and the war in Gaza\, the very core of the movement faces great challenges in showing that there is another way. The first question they must move past relates to their own beliefs…is this possible? \nLEARN MORE + REGISTER >

Join us on Monday\, October 7\, 12 PM ET / 11 AM CT / 9 AM PT to be in community together as we get all four of their perspectives on this past year\, mourn those we have lost\, and discuss where we are and where we’re going. \nIn the last year\, even as each of us has experienced so much pain\, NIF has endeavored to be there where it matters most. SUMMARY:Connecting Across The Divide Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Workshop:\nConnecting Across The Divide\nSunday\, September 8\, 2024 | 10a-12p EST\nBrooklyn\nLab/Shul invites you to join Itaf Awad (Palestinian from Haifa) and Aura Hammer (Jew from the Galilee)\, who have worked together for over 20 years to build and support peace\, equality and connection\, for an evening talk and workshop. \nItaf and Aura will share with us their journey\, and how their work partnership and sisterhood has survived the difficulties over the years and especially the Israel-Gaza war. The workshop will offer a taste of The Way of Council\, the way of listening and speaking from the heart\, which is what created the strong roots of their connection and work together. \n“October 7th tore apart reality as we knew it in Israel-Palestine. Our perception of how things are was shattered on multiple levels and has affected not only those living on this land but many people and communities around the world. We are still in shock in far too many ways\, and worse\, see no end in sight. We – Itaf Awad and Aura Hammer – who have worked together for over 20 years as carriers of the way of peace\, equality\, of connection\, found ourselves on the brink of being torn away from each other\, the pain we experienced was so profound. Our 20 year collaboration and sisterhood are built on the foundation of creating a safe space for each other and for others. A space for holding joy and pain\, for deep honest relationships. And so we are still connected. The connection is often rocked\, as our reality is an earthquake constantly happening\, yet we refuse to give up. And we refuse to have you give up. Even if we lose hope\, we will persist in our search.” ~ Itaf and Aura \nTHIS EVENT IF FREE – THANKS TO YOU! Please help us support these peacemakers.\nDonations go a long way to help these courageous hope carriers to continue to do their important work.
