SUMMARY:Israel-Palestine Virtual Symposium - Spring 2026
DESCRIPTION:7th ANNUAL PARTNERS’ ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN VIRTUAL SYMPOSIUM\nISRAEL IN MORAL CRISIS\nSUNDAY\, June 7th\n11am & 1:30pm EST\nONLINE\n  \nPartners For Progressive Israel announce the seventh annual Israel-Palestine Virtual Symposium: Israel in Moral Crisis. We invite you to join us as we reckon together with both our deepest-held values as Jews and progressives\, alongside the reality of ongoing war in Israel and the broader Middle East\, the destruction of Gaza\, and increasing state and settler violence in the West Bank. \nDuring one Sunday in June\, Symposium participants will hear from and engage in dialogue with Israelis and Palestinians whose work bolsters a progressive vision of the future for Palestinians and Israelis alike\, even in the midst of a dark reality. We invite you to join us to move beyond the headlines and “hot takes” into intimate off-the-record conversations with leading thinkers\, activists\, and leaders in the Land. \nSymposium members will have the opportunity\, on camera\, to question presenters and\, following their departure from the call\, to spend a final 30 minutes dedicated to a group debriefing. \nSession A (11am EDT): “Forces for Political Change – Looking Ahead to Elections” \n\nAs we anticipate Israeli elections in the coming months\, we take a deeper dive into Israeli Knesset politics. Join us for a robust discussion with experts on polling\, newly emerging political voices\, and where power is likely to be built to create meaningful political change in Israel.\nConfirmed Speakers Include:\n\nRabbi Avi Dabush\, CEO of Rabbis for Human Rights and member of HaDemocratim\, (“The Democrats”\, a union of Labor and Meretz)\nDr. Laura Wharton\, a member of Jerusalem’s City Council as representative of HaDemocratim and adjunct lecturer in political science at Hebrew University\n\n\n\nSession B (1:30pm EDT): “The Moral Challenges of State Power” \n\nWhat happens when our moral commitments as a Jewish community appear to sit at odds with the uses (and abuses) of state power in Israel today? Join us for an in-depth exploration with leading Jewish thinkers of new paradigms for tackling this decades-old question\, especially in light of recent wars\, the current Israeli government\, and the destruction of Gaza.\nConfirmed Speakers Include:\n\nRabbanit Leah Shakdiel\, Orthodox rabbi\, scholar\, and teacher of Torah and democracy\nRabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie\, social activist and storyteller\, writer and teacher\, and the Co-Founding Spiritual Leader of the Lab/Shul community in NYC.\n\n\n\nLearn More & Register >

SUMMARY:Tisha B'Av: Grief Ritual
DESCRIPTION:Tisha B’Av: Grief Ritual\nby Temple of the Stranger\nThursday\, July 23rd\n6:30-9:30pm EST\nBROOKLYN\nWe invite you to join our partners at Temple of the Stranger for an embodied ritual of grief and loss rooted in the Jewish ancestral tradition for Tisha B’Av\, the ancient Jewish day of communal mourning. \n\nOur ancestors knew that grief is not meant to be carried alone. We’ve inherited ancient\, embodied ways of working with grief together. With music and sound\, ritual and presence\, we’ll welcome our grief\, enter it\, move through it\, and let it move through us. This is an honest space for tears\, silence\, or whatever rises. We’ll then follow the journey from loss to relief\, and explore the stirrings of liberation planted at the close of this day. We’ll share light bites of sacred food* to seal the ceremony. \nFeaturing Rav Jericho Vincent\, Rabbi Yosef Goldman\, Chaya Morgan. \nDoors open at 6:30. The ceremony will start promptly at 6:40. Please arrive on time. This experience is open to people of all backgrounds. No prior experience with Judaism or Tisha B’Av is necessary. \nDress code: Black grief attire\, honoring loss\, reverence\, or remembrance in whatever way feels true to you. Open to folks aged 18+ who are Jewish\, Jew-ish\, and non-Jewish. To aid in the Great Turning please bring your own water bottle. \n\nLearn More & Register >\nPlease note: \n\n\n\nPhotos and videos will be taken at this event. By entering the premises\, you consent to being photographed or recorded and to the use of these materials for future marketing or related purposes by Temple of the Stranger and its partners.\n*Fasting is one of the traditional practices of Tisha B’Av. This food will serve as a break fast for those who need it. You’re welcome to fast if that’s meaningful to you but it is not expected nor required.\nThis ceremony is made possible through the generous support of UJA Federation of New York and folks like you who love Temple of the Stranger. SUMMARY:Be Breathed: An Ivri Evening of Mystical Ritual
DESCRIPTION:Be Breathed: An Ivri Evening of Mystical Ritual\nfor Tu B’av\nMonday\, July 27th\n7:00-9:30pm EST\nBROOKLYN*\nJust before Tu B’Av — the Jewish festival of love — we gather for an evening of resonance\, presence\, and connection. Guided by Rabbi Jericho Vincent of Temple of the Stranger and Spiritual Leader Shira Kline of Lab/Shul\, we will enter a shared field of chant\, breath\, and embodied ritual. \nThrough ancient melodies\, contemplative practice\, and participatory ceremony\, we’ll create space to soften\, listen\, and remember. \nThis gathering is an invitation to be carried by sound\, to connect with yourself and others\, and to step into the mysterious terrain that Tu B’Av opens: the possibility of love\, belonging\, longing\, and encounter. Ivri is our most ancient communal name\, Hebrew for “one who crosses over.” It is also term we use to describe a growing movement of Jews reclaiming ancestral practices\, cultivating new forms of embodied ritual\, and exploring spiritual life rooted in our lineage. \nShira and Rabbi Jericho are two of the incredible spiritual leaders in this nascent movement. \nNo prior experience is necessary. Come as you are\, leave as even more of yourself✨ \nThis space is a collaborative weaving of Temple of the Stranger\, Lab/Shul\, OpenLev\, and Space and Magic. \n*Private location to be provided upon registration. \nLearn More & Register >\nPlease note: Partiful RSVP does not guarantee entree — Venmo and receive confirmation to claim your spot

SUMMARY:ReCollect/Yizkor
DESCRIPTION:ReCollect/Yizkor: A Kaddish Gathering\nSaturday\, October 3\, 2026\n12pm EST\nOnline\nAs we leave the high holidays and enter into the harvest holiday of Sukkot\, the Jewish calendar offers us an opportunity to invite the ancestors who came before us into temporary shelters (Sukkot). These huts serve as memory holders for both biblical ancestors and our own who we love and miss. Sukkot is the first of three ancient pilgrimage holidays when collective community gathers to remember (Yizkor). Together\, will create our temporary shelter online. \nLab/Shul’s ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones\, share stories\, lift memory\, and say Kaddish\, the ancient memorial prayer\, together. Throughout the year\, ReCollect meets near or on the times of memory (Yizkor) on the Jewish calendar (Yom Kippur\, Passover\, Shavuot\, and in this month Sukkot). \nWhether you’ve experienced a recent loss\, are remembering a loved one who passed long ago\, or showing up in support of community\, you are welcome here. Together\, we acknowledge feelings of loss that can be particularly painful as we anticipate empty chairs at our tables and holes in our hearts. \nRegister here >

Join us for an exclusive talkback with the artists and the installation’s curator\, Shlomi Rabi\, and hear from Andrei Kozlov\, former hostage and artist\, who now shares his story through his artwork worldwide. \nTogether we’ll honor our enduring bond forged through solidarity\, action\, and hope and commemorate this pivotal chapter in our Jewish communal history. \nLight refreshments will be served.
