SUMMARY:Beseda: COJECO Jewish Intellectual Circle Presents: PURIM UNMASKED with Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie
DESCRIPTION:Beseda: COJECO Jewish Intellectual Circle Presents: PURIM UNMASKED with Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie\nThursday\, February 27th\, 2025\n6:30-8:30pm EST\nNYC*\nDive into the intellectual atmosphere of paradoxes\, controversies\, and debates at the BESEDA: COJECO Jewish Intellectual Club. With wine and cheese reception. \nExplore the hidden history and current political purpose of the most misunderstood Jewish holiday with the acclaimed Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie. \nPurim and its featured Scroll of Esther are often understood as a fantasy of Jewish power composed when Jews had none. But today\, it is a different story\, and it requires wrestling with the text and traditions to walk our talk of justice\, patriotism\, and moral responsibility to make new meanings of this holiday for our fast changing times. Yes\, even those triangle pastries are not what you thought. \nBESEDA: COJECO Jewish Intellectual Circle is part of COJECO Adult Jewish Education Series generously supported by the UJA-Federation of NY. \n*NYC address provided upon RSVP \nRegister Here>
