DESCRIPTION:R E V E A L:\nAn all-night Tikkun Leil Shavuot of immersive ritual\, learning\, and performance\nSunday\, June 1 -2 2025\n6:00pm – 6:00am PST | Online\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome experience the ancient tradition of Tikkun Leil Shavuot with Chochmat HaLev and LABA BAY AREA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShavuot is one of three Jewish pilgrimage festivals\, when seekers from across the land would convene at the sacred Temple to encounter each other and the Divine in elaborate ritual and shared abundance. Since the destruction of the Temple\, Jewish mystics have spent all Shavuot night immersed in study and practice\, seeking to relive the revelation at Mt. Sinai\, that moment of raw exposure between God and her seekers. What was invisible becomes visible. What was concealed is revealed. \nOur evening will start with provocative and immersive ritual theater designed and led by Rabbi Amichai Lau Lavie\, Founding Spiritual Leader of Lab/Shul NYC and star of the award-winning Sabbath Queen documentary\, and Rabbi Zvika Krieger\, Spiritual Leader of Chochmat HaLev\, with sacred chanting led by Lauren Arrow. You can then choose your own adventure: mystical study sessions led by Rabbi Amichai\, Rabbi Zvika\, and Judaic scholars Professors Deena Aranoff and Sam Shonkoff\, as well as music\, dance\, art\, embodiment experiences\, and a specially designed immersive art installation – all created and led by LABA artists\, curated by Elissa Strauss. DESCRIPTION:Recollect Seasonal Kaddish Gathering\nTuesday\, June 3rd\, 2025\n6:45pm ET in NYC*\n7:15pm ET Online\nAs we journey towards the final pilgrimage holiday of Shavuot and the revelation of wisdom (Torah)\, we also acknowledge special folks we’ve lost along the way. What is the wisdom they shared with us during our precious time together? \nLab/Shul’s ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones\, share stories\, lift memory\, and say Kaddish\, the ancient memorial prayer\, together. Throughout the year\, ReCollect meets near or on the times of memory (Yizkor) on the Jewish calendar (Yom Kippur\, Sukkot\, Passover and in this month Shavuot). \nWhether you’ve experienced a recent loss\, are remembering a loved one who passed long ago\, or showing up in support of community\, you are welcome here. Together\, we acknowledge feelings of loss that can be particularly painful as we anticipate empty chairs at our tables and holes in our hearts. \n*NYC address sent out upon RSVP\n*In the event of rain\, an indoor contingency plan will be in effect. \nOnline Registration >\nIn-Person Registration >

SUMMARY:Four Questions & Courageous Conversation for this New Jewish Year:  What Does it Feel Like to be Jewish Today?
DESCRIPTION:Four Questions & Courageous Conversation for this New Jewish Year:\nWhat Does it Feel Like to be Jewish Today?\nYOM KIPPUR EVE\nWed Oct 1st\n9:15-10:30pm ET\nIN PERSON + ONLINE*\n\nOn this Kol Nidrei night\, Lab/Shul invites you into a bold and tender exploration of Jewish identity in 2025. Inspired by the Four Children of the Passover Haggadah—each representing a distinct archetype and response to life\, and by the four questions of the Seder—we will gather as a community on this sacred night of atonement on which we don’t eat but do get to ask big questions about liberation and identity: \n\nWhat does it mean to be Jewish today?\nWhere do our loyalties lie?\nHow do we hold both hurt and hope\, shame and pride?\n\nThrough an interactive panel with Lab/Shul’s ritual team and special guests\, combined with opportunities for personal reflection and shared response\, we’ll confront the hardest questions of belonging and belief in this moment\, and open our hearts to the responsible possibilities of renewal and repair. \n*This program will be held following the Kol Nidrei ritual and is open to all who are joining us on this night\, in person or online.  \n\nREGISTRATION >> included with High Holy Days Registration\n

SUMMARY:Courageous Conversations: Visionary x Partners Community Salon
DESCRIPTION:Courageous Conversations:\nVisionary x Partners Community Salon\nDecember 16\, 2025\n7–9pm ET\nOnline*\nAvailable to Partners Only\n(This event is only available for partners. Not a partner yet? It’s easy to join. Learn more about our flexible options here.) \nEach month\, Lab/Shul’s Visionary Salon gathers a circle of Visionary Partners around one timely\, soul-stirring question. For Hanukkah – and as a continuation of the brave conversations we began on Kol Nidre – we’re opening this month’s Salon to all Partners. This gathering offers a space to spark hope and a first glimpse of our returning Courageous Conversations 2026 cohort – a community experience rooted in empathy\, dialogue\, and deep listening that has supported and sustained us in recent years. \nFacilitated in person by Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie and online by Melissa Shaw\, this Salon welcomes anyone ready to listen deeply\, speak thoughtfully\, and sit with complexity in community. \nOur Courageous Conversations framework draws on years of Lab/Shul practice: professionally guided dialogue\, a blend of large talking circle and small group formats\, this series nurtures understanding\, empathy\, and essential communication skills while embracing the diverse perspectives\, beliefs\, and experiences that shape our collective fabric. Each session offers a supportive space for thoughtful discussion\, equipping participants with tools to navigate conversations across disagreement with openness and respect. \n*Zoom information shared upon registration. \nThe virtual program is offered to partners only with a suggested donation of $18. Give what feels right—more if you can support others\, less if needed. Your presence is what matters most. \nQuestions? Reach out to sylvie@labshul.org. \nREGISTRATION>>
