SUMMARY:ReCollect/Yizkor
DESCRIPTION:ReCollect/Yizkor: Shavuot\nThursday\, May 21st\n12pm ET\nOnline\n\n\nAs we journey towards the final pilgrimage holiday of Shavuot and the revelation of wisdom (Torah)\, we also acknowledge special folks we’ve lost along the way. What is the wisdom they shared with us during our precious time on earth together? \nLab/Shul’s ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones\, share stories\, lift memory\, and say Kaddish\, the ancient memorial prayer\, together. Throughout the year\, ReCollect meets near or on the times of memory (Yizkor) on the Jewish calendar (Yom Kippur\, Sukkot\, Passover and in this month Shavuot). \nWhether you’ve experienced a recent loss\, are remembering a loved one who passed long ago\, or showing up in support of community\, you are welcome here. Together\, we acknowledge feelings of loss that can be particularly painful as we anticipate empty chairs at our tables and holes in our hearts. \n\nRegister here >

SUMMARY:Judaism: Born Divided? / Below the Bible Belt 2
DESCRIPTION: Judaism: Born Divided? Below the Bible Belt 2\nTwelve Tribes of Israel – Fact or Fiction??\nSunday April 19\nLIVE | ONLINE\n\nWhen Did “Israel” Begin? The twelve tribes of Israel  —fact of fiction\, solid history or made-up myth? \nIt’s a fascinating mystery that deeply matters to who and what the people of Israel are really all about – today\, worldwide.\nOur fourth monthly session of Judaism:  Born Divided traces tribal truths\, well guarded secrets and surprising stories about siblings that never existed\, family ties that forged not one but two kingdoms\, brutal battles that tore them apart\, and the power of political stories that solidify claims to power despite disputes and different narratives. Tracing the twelve tribes reveals how Judean editors rewrote history—and how recovering suppressed northern models might expand our imagination for pluralistic Jewish peoplehood today. \nJoin for a close reading of biblical texts in conversation with archeology and critical history\, including Finkelstein’s The Forgotten Kingdom\, Avrum Burg’s “Israel Should Triumph Over Judah\,” and Shira Golani’s ‘The Two Blessings of the Twelve Tribes’. \nRead this prior to LIVE program \n\n***Lab/Shul Partners receive 50% off monthly/annual subscriptions***\nPartners click here to subscribe > \nBelow the Bible Belt Part 2 is an online Study Course with Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie. How the origin story of our forgotten feud can help direct us from discord and schism to diversity and pluralism. (January–December 2026) | More Info  \n

SUMMARY:ReCollect/Yizkor
DESCRIPTION:ReCollect/Yizkor: Passover\nThursday\, April 9th\n12pm ET\nOnline\n\n\nSpring brings a season of memory – collective memory in the Passover story where the Jewish people left Egypt\, but there was much loss along the way. Passover is the second of three ancient pilgrimage holidays when collective community gathers to remember (Yizkor). We will gather at the end of Passover to reflect on the holiday and connect to our memories. \n*NOTE: this will take the place of Virtual Kaddish that week. \nLab/Shul’s ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones\, share stories\, lift memory\, and say Kaddish\, the ancient memorial prayer\, together. SUMMARY:Shushan in Session: The Megillah\, Mediated
DESCRIPTION:Shushan in Session:\nThe Megillah\, Mediated\nMarch 2\, 2026\nDoors Open @ 7pm*\nWhat if…courageous conversations saved the kingdom from fear\, deception and bloodshed? \nThe traditional Purim story is full of silences\, secrets\, decrees\, and power plays. But in our upside-down version\, difference is not a threat but a source of strength\, and truth-telling and real talk are what change the fate of the Jewish people.  \nMitzi – Lab/Shul’s resident Commander/Prophetess/Mistress of Ceremonies – returns to perform another Purim Mitzvah\, this time to repair the story of Purim. How will she do it? By summoning the characters of the Megillah – and\, inexplicably\, some famous modern-day friends – from their ancient scrolls onto the stage\, and putting her conflict resolution training to the test for a group mediation.  \nJoin us for SHUSHAN IN SESSION: The Megillah\, Mediated. We are not making the story “nicer.” We are making it truer to who we aspire to be. \nThe ritual performance will feature Ben Freeman\, Shira Kline\, Naomi Less\, Stuart B Meyers\, Melissa Shaw & Sarah Sokolic + Special Guest Artists. \nTHE SCHEDULE: \n\n7pm – Doors Open\n7:30PM – Act 1 – The Neighborhood’s Drag Megillah reading ft. Abbi G’zunt & friends\n8:30PM – Act 2 – Lab/Shul’s SHUSHAN IN SESSION: The Megillah\, Mediated ft. Ben Freeman\, Shira Kline\, Naomi Less\, Stuart B Meyers\, Melissa Shaw & Sarah Sokolic + Special Guest Artists\n10:00PM: After Party – UNTIL 4AM – In partnership W. Temple of the Stranger\, Flaminggg & The Neighborhood\n\nAll are welcome. Creepiness isn’t tolerated. 21+. SUMMARY:Courageous Conversations: Visionary x Partners Community Salon
DESCRIPTION:Courageous Conversations:\nVisionary x Partners Community Salon\nDecember 16\, 2025\n7–9pm ET\nOnline*\nAvailable to Partners Only\n(This event is only available for partners. Not a partner yet? It’s easy to join. Learn more about our flexible options here.) \nEach month\, Lab/Shul’s Visionary Salon gathers a circle of Visionary Partners around one timely\, soul-stirring question. For Hanukkah – and as a continuation of the brave conversations we began on Kol Nidre – we’re opening this month’s Salon to all Partners. This gathering offers a space to spark hope and a first glimpse of our returning Courageous Conversations 2026 cohort – a community experience rooted in empathy\, dialogue\, and deep listening that has supported and sustained us in recent years. \nFacilitated in person by Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie and online by Melissa Shaw\, this Salon welcomes anyone ready to listen deeply\, speak thoughtfully\, and sit with complexity in community. \nOur Courageous Conversations framework draws on years of Lab/Shul practice: professionally guided dialogue\, a blend of large talking circle and small group formats\, this series nurtures understanding\, empathy\, and essential communication skills while embracing the diverse perspectives\, beliefs\, and experiences that shape our collective fabric. Each session offers a supportive space for thoughtful discussion\, equipping participants with tools to navigate conversations across disagreement with openness and respect. \n*Zoom information shared upon registration. \nThe virtual program is offered to partners only with a suggested donation of $18. Give what feels right—more if you can support others\, less if needed. Your presence is what matters most. \nQuestions? Reach out to sylvie@labshul.org. \nREGISTRATION>>
