SUMMARY:Be Breathed: An Ivri Evening of Mystical Ritual
DESCRIPTION:Be Breathed: An Ivri Evening of Mystical Ritual\nfor Tu B’av\nMonday\, July 27th\n7:00-9:30pm EST\nBROOKLYN*\nJust before Tu B’Av — the Jewish festival of love — we gather for an evening of resonance\, presence\, and connection. Guided by Rabbi Jericho Vincent of Temple of the Stranger and Spiritual Leader Shira Kline of Lab/Shul\, we will enter a shared field of chant\, breath\, and embodied ritual. \nThrough ancient melodies\, contemplative practice\, and participatory ceremony\, we’ll create space to soften\, listen\, and remember. \nThis gathering is an invitation to be carried by sound\, to connect with yourself and others\, and to step into the mysterious terrain that Tu B’Av opens: the possibility of love\, belonging\, longing\, and encounter. Ivri is our most ancient communal name\, Hebrew for “one who crosses over.” It is also term we use to describe a growing movement of Jews reclaiming ancestral practices\, cultivating new forms of embodied ritual\, and exploring spiritual life rooted in our lineage. \nShira and Rabbi Jericho are two of the incredible spiritual leaders in this nascent movement. \nNo prior experience is necessary. Come as you are\, leave as even more of yourself✨ \nThis space is a collaborative weaving of Temple of the Stranger\, Lab/Shul\, OpenLev\, and Space and Magic. \n*Private location to be provided upon registration. \nLearn More & Register >\nPlease note: Partiful RSVP does not guarantee entree — Venmo and receive confirmation to claim your spot

SUMMARY:Tisha B'Av: Grief Ritual
DESCRIPTION:Tisha B’Av: Grief Ritual\nby Temple of the Stranger\nThursday\, July 23rd\n6:30-9:30pm EST\nBROOKLYN\nWe invite you to join our partners at Temple of the Stranger for an embodied ritual of grief and loss rooted in the Jewish ancestral tradition for Tisha B’Av\, the ancient Jewish day of communal mourning. \n\nOur ancestors knew that grief is not meant to be carried alone. We’ve inherited ancient\, embodied ways of working with grief together. With music and sound\, ritual and presence\, we’ll welcome our grief\, enter it\, move through it\, and let it move through us. This is an honest space for tears\, silence\, or whatever rises. We’ll then follow the journey from loss to relief\, and explore the stirrings of liberation planted at the close of this day. We’ll share light bites of sacred food* to seal the ceremony. \nFeaturing Rav Jericho Vincent\, Rabbi Yosef Goldman\, Chaya Morgan. \nDoors open at 6:30. The ceremony will start promptly at 6:40. Please arrive on time. This experience is open to people of all backgrounds. No prior experience with Judaism or Tisha B’Av is necessary. \nDress code: Black grief attire\, honoring loss\, reverence\, or remembrance in whatever way feels true to you. Open to folks aged 18+ who are Jewish\, Jew-ish\, and non-Jewish. To aid in the Great Turning please bring your own water bottle. \n\nLearn More & Register >\nPlease note: \n\n\n\nPhotos and videos will be taken at this event. By entering the premises\, you consent to being photographed or recorded and to the use of these materials for future marketing or related purposes by Temple of the Stranger and its partners.\n*Fasting is one of the traditional practices of Tisha B’Av. This food will serve as a break fast for those who need it. You’re welcome to fast if that’s meaningful to you but it is not expected nor required.\nThis ceremony is made possible through the generous support of UJA Federation of New York and folks like you who love Temple of the Stranger. SUMMARY:ReCollect/Yizkor
DESCRIPTION:ReCollect/Yizkor: Shavuot\nThursday\, May 21st\n12pm ET\nOnline\n\n\nAs we journey towards the final pilgrimage holiday of Shavuot and the revelation of wisdom (Torah)\, we also acknowledge special folks we’ve lost along the way. What is the wisdom they shared with us during our precious time on earth together? \nLab/Shul’s ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones\, share stories\, lift memory\, and say Kaddish\, the ancient memorial prayer\, together. Throughout the year\, ReCollect meets near or on the times of memory (Yizkor) on the Jewish calendar (Yom Kippur\, Sukkot\, Passover and in this month Shavuot). \nWhether you’ve experienced a recent loss\, are remembering a loved one who passed long ago\, or showing up in support of community\, you are welcome here. Together\, we acknowledge feelings of loss that can be particularly painful as we anticipate empty chairs at our tables and holes in our hearts. \n\nRegister here >

SUMMARY:Judaism: Born Divided? / Below the Bible Belt 2
DESCRIPTION: Judaism: Born Divided? Below the Bible Belt 2\nTwelve Tribes of Israel – Fact or Fiction??\nSunday April 19\nLIVE | ONLINE\n\nWhen Did “Israel” Begin? The twelve tribes of Israel  —fact of fiction\, solid history or made-up myth? \nIt’s a fascinating mystery that deeply matters to who and what the people of Israel are really all about – today\, worldwide.\nOur fourth monthly session of Judaism:  Born Divided traces tribal truths\, well guarded secrets and surprising stories about siblings that never existed\, family ties that forged not one but two kingdoms\, brutal battles that tore them apart\, and the power of political stories that solidify claims to power despite disputes and different narratives. Tracing the twelve tribes reveals how Judean editors rewrote history—and how recovering suppressed northern models might expand our imagination for pluralistic Jewish peoplehood today. \nJoin for a close reading of biblical texts in conversation with archeology and critical history\, including Finkelstein’s The Forgotten Kingdom\, Avrum Burg’s “Israel Should Triumph Over Judah\,” and Shira Golani’s ‘The Two Blessings of the Twelve Tribes’. \nRead this prior to LIVE program \n\n***Lab/Shul Partners receive 50% off monthly/annual subscriptions***\nPartners click here to subscribe > \nBelow the Bible Belt Part 2 is an online Study Course with Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie. SUMMARY:ReCollect/Yizkor
DESCRIPTION:ReCollect/Yizkor: Passover\nThursday\, April 9th\n12pm ET\nOnline\n\n\nSpring brings a season of memory – collective memory in the Passover story where the Jewish people left Egypt\, but there was much loss along the way. Passover is the second of three ancient pilgrimage holidays when collective community gathers to remember (Yizkor). We will gather at the end of Passover to reflect on the holiday and connect to our memories. \n*NOTE: this will take the place of Virtual Kaddish that week. \nLab/Shul’s ReCollect/Yizkor is a seasonal gathering to remember our loved ones\, share stories\, lift memory\, and say Kaddish\, the ancient memorial prayer\, together. Throughout the year\, ReCollect meets near or on the times of memory (Yizkor) on the Jewish calendar (Yom Kippur\, Sukkot\, Passover and Shavuot).

DESCRIPTION:Shushan in Session:\nThe Megillah\, Mediated\nMarch 2\, 2026\nDoors Open @ 7pm*\nWhat if…courageous conversations saved the kingdom from fear\, deception and bloodshed? \nThe traditional Purim story is full of silences\, secrets\, decrees\, and power plays.
